My statement on the death of Antonin Scalia

Most of the Founding Fathers whose ideas Antonin Scalia supposedly defended and upheld were stridently anti-Catholic, which is why no Catholic was appointed to the Supreme Court until 1836.

It is liberalism that holds that religious bigotry has no place in a free society.

Most Anglo-Americans in the 19th and early 20th Century were opposed to Italian immigration, which is why no Italian-American was appointed to the Supreme Court until Scalia was in 1986.

It is liberalism that holds that ethnic bigotry has no place in a free society.

The only reason why an Italian Catholic like Antonin Scalia could progress to the highest court in the land is because liberal ideas about race and religion eventually won the day after decades of struggle against conservatism.

And yet Scalia used his power and influence to constantly attack liberalism. The stunning hypocrisy and historical amnesia of such a person does not deserve my respect, or any American's respect, or the respect of anyone who has ever fought against racial or religious bigotry.

Scalia's departure from the Supreme Court can only improve that body's stated commitment to equal justice under the law
